Thank you to everyone who helped NAC K-Kids, Builders Club, and Key Club promote and/or donated to this year's Food Drive. We collected 352 pounds of food! This will be shared with the food pantries in Altona, Churubusco, Ellenburg, and Lyon Mountain as well as NACS' Backpack Program. .Thank you for supporting our community!
NAC Key Club recently volunteered at the Make A Wish booth in the mall. Builders Club and Key Club members also collected donations during lunches this week that will be sent to Make A Wish.
I want to start by saying thank you for your patience and understanding this week. That being said our last day before vacation the runs will be as follows. Routes 7, and 12 will be second runs in the morning. The afternoon will be Routes 11, 12 and 13. I hope you have a great vacation and happy holidays!
Good evening Northern Adirondack families,
This message is to make you aware of a change in the Google services that our students will have access to that will go into effect on Friday, December 20, 2024. The Chief Privacy Officer for the New York State Education Department (NYSED) recently informed all superintendents that the current data privacy agreement in place with Google only covers their Core services, such as Classroom, Drive, Gmail, etc. The current agreement does not cover any of their additional services, such as Google Maps, Google Earth, and YouTube.
As a result of this, school districts are required to turn off direct access to the afore mentioned additional services for students. We must do this in order to remain in compliance with the New York State Ed Law 2-d, which focuses on protecting student data and privacy.
The additional service that will have the greatest impact on our students is, no doubt, YouTube. Teachers will still have options to use YouTube with their students that will allow them to assign specific content, however students will no longer be able to go to youtube.com and view videos on their school-issued devices, while logged in to their nacs1.org accounts, whether they are in school or elsewhere.
Many of you may see this as welcome news. YouTube has many fantastic educational resources, however it also has a tremendous amount of content that has no educational value. We do our best to filter content, but unfortunately, there is not a filter that is 100% effective at this time.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
