Dear Parents/Guardians:
On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, New York State delivered rapid antigen COVID tests to all schools in the state. The intention is for these tests to be used for students to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
These tests are being provided as an option for you to use if you choose to determine if your child may have COVID. If you would like to receive one of these test kits, you are entitled to one kit for each child in your household that attends our school. Please complete the attached request form to receive one test kit for your child(ren) who attend our school.
Please see the information below regarding how to use this test:
- The instructions are included on the package. It is important that the instructions are followed exactly as they are printed.
- A video that may help: https://youtu.be/qBt_H4Gc-rU
- This is a COVID rapid test with a nasal swab. There are two tests in each box. These two tests are to be used by the same person. Do NOT share tests from the same box with anyone else. Each person needs their own box of tests.
If your test is negative:
- You do not need to follow up with a PCR test, however if your child is exhibiting symptoms they must remain at home until they are symptom free.
If your test is positive (Clinton County):
- Call your doctor for an order for a PCR test
- Get a PCR test at a local testing site
- Stay home and self-isolate (plan on isolating for a total of 10 days)
- If your PCR test is positive, you will receive a call from the local or state health department
