Good morning NAC families. As many of you are already aware, there was an unspecific school violence threat circulating among several schools in Clinton County late last night. Major Leon from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department emailed this AM (morning) that a juvenile was identified as sharing locally. The Sheriff's Department and partner law enforcement will still be beefing up patrols at all of our schools in Clinton County. Sheriff Favro also share BOCES District Superintendent this morning that the National Sheriff's Association has identified similar school violence threats across the country on Tic Tok. Specifically, he mentioned California and Ohio. The threats are specifying school violence on Friday, 12/17. He wanted all Superintendents and school officials to be aware and to know that law enforcement is continuing to work on it, as there may be other threats circulating. And, most importantly that this was not just a local trend.
As your superintendent, I ask that you continue to report anything out of the ordinary in regards to potential threats of violence. Sometimes you will see something online that we may not be aware of.
Thank you for your continued support in maintaining a safe school environment, and please thank all of the law enforcement agencies that support us on a daily basis.
As I was finishing this message we received an update from Trooper D’Ambro who relayed that the local threat has been deemed a "non-credible.
James C. Knight, Jr.
